All Star time is here for boys youth baseball. Coaching all stars is fun indeed. It is fun for the coaches and the parents. There is nothing better than having a correctly picked all star team and having a team that can actually can play together efficiently.
If this is the first time your youth has been a baseball all star, you will be excited. This is the reason we went to select ball..(some call it traveling ball.
Even though we have a select team we still have a t baller so we are still involved in recreational league ball and have many friends that coach, kids play, and interestingly enough coach all stars. I will tell you now.. If you have fun drills and keep education and improvement involved throughout the regular season..(Yes I am talking to you all star coaches..) It will be even more effective and fun in All Stars.
Congrats to coaches for winning the all star coach title, and congrats to the boys to.
We would love to hear some all star pitching drills, all star hitting drills, all star fielding drills, practice routines, pre game warm ups at

Ready Position
The most basic aspect of baseball is the ready position.
Here is a great article on how to start kids off on the right foot.
Baseball is a game. Games are fun, but they are a lot more fun if you know how to do things right.
If you coach youth baseball or has a child that plays..this is a starting point for teaching your child the basics, especially if he/she missed t ball.

Some downloads have been added to the new Coaching Youth Baseball site.
2 are to help the coaches job easier in youth baseball.
There is a code of conduct coaches can use as an example, to hopefully eliminate any problems from the beginning. I have found having the kids and parents sign a code of conduct form lets them know right from the start you are more interested in educating the kids instead of arguing politics and bad calls.
A Player evaluation checklist has been added also. This is useful for new recreational and select teams.
You can simply check the boxes in different categories and then review with other coaches to assist you in beginning placements of your defense.
One of my favorite is the Daily Baseball Drills.
It is specifically designed for a parent or coach to work one on one on some key basic skills in 30 minutes.
It is divided into 2 sections..Pitching and Hitting. These Work! While it is called Daily Baseball Drills..In Coaching Youth Baseball you will have a couple of practices a week, and there simply is not enough time to give the one on one work with each child that they may need(especially at different levels) .. If You as a parent follow the Daily Baseball Drills 2 or 3 times a week..You will see a vast and quick improvement in your childs ability and success. And a very happy Youth Baseball Coach.
Baseball instruction with some golf
Sometimes you need a break from baseball and coaching youth baseball.
Your youth baseball practices should be fun and instructional.
Full of education.
You should incorporate some fun nonbaseball team building activities too. But what about the coach? What about the parents?
Here is a site for for some fun downtime. Golf!
P.S. Its educational too!
